I specialise in all aspects of Employment Law whether you are a business or an individual who needs help including:
I also have a particular interest in business immigration.
I trained at a leading East Anglian practice, qualified as a Solicitor in 2003 and joined Gotelee in 2005.
Ever since I qualified as a Solicitor, I have specialised in employment law. I help employers and individuals on any employment law issues. At Gotelee we pride ourselves on taking a proactive rather than a reactive approach, so I work with employers helping them to avoid problems from arising by ensuring that the right procedures are followed and by providing appropriate training for managers. Where problems do arise, I can advise you on the best course of action to limit the exposure to your business.
With individuals, I will help you make the best tactical decisions, to protect your position and to resolve your employment difficulties in the best way possible for you.
I provide a high quality and cost efficient service. I take the time to understand my clients’ needs and protect their best interests to achieve the best outcome possible for them. Employer clients appreciate how I understand their business and provide realistic, practical and commercial advice. I respond quickly and make sure that any problem that you face is dealt with in a practical way. I am a good listener and provide support to clients through what are often stressful times.
I build strong relationships of trust with my clients and many have come back to me for advice time and time again. I aim to explain complex issues in simple layman’s terms. Clients tell me that my advice is clear, easy to understand and to the point.
I present at our quarterly HR Forum for HR professionals and our annual Employment Law Seminar for local businesses.
I help businesses (of all types and sizes) and individuals in relation to any type of employment issue that you may have. Here at Gotelee, we can help you for a fixed fee or on a monthly retainer for advice.
I have recently received the following testimonials from clients:
“We cannot thank you enough for all your help and support. You always answer quickly and clearly. You send clear summaries of discussions. You are professional at all times. You give the impression that although we are a tiny business, we matter to you.” – EB Showing Limited
“We sought advice from Marie Allen of Gotelee Solicitors regarding a human resources issue. As a small charity, we were keen to act diligently to avoid the issue becoming more serious. Marie listened to our concerns and provided us with supportive advice which really helped us to respond in the most appropriate manner. The issue was resolved thanks to this advice.”
“Marie provided a great service and ensured that a complex agreement was presented in a flexible but clearly defined manner.” R Stevenson, MD, Vanners
“Marie Allen has been a star helping me with legal staff issues we have personally experienced, making sure I say the correct thing and don’t get myself into trouble! Together with assisting clients from the quick bits of legal advice through to the more complicated disciplinary hearings. Thank you for all your support so far and I look forward to a long and successful relationship.” Managing Director, Certax Accounting (East Anglia) Limited.
“Marie can always be relied upon to respond quickly, and with a high level of expertise and thought; great attention to detail and decisive.” Head of HR, the Seckford Foundation.
“Marie Allen has provided ongoing advice to me in my role as HR Development Administrator since 2009. Marie is always very professional and very knowledgeable in Employment Law. I have also attended Marie’s seminars on Employment Law and I have found these to be of a high standard.” HR Development Administrator, Christies Care Limited.
“I am confident in making my recommendation of Marie Allen in Employment Law. Marie “held my hand” through a complex/difficult Employment Tribunal case. I was not the easiest of clients due to the tactics of the other side with the delays caused by them and the Tribunal authorities. However, due to Marie’s hard work and diligence, the Judgement was eventually in my favour with regard to unfair dismissal/age discrimination plus an award of compensation in excess of £10k. I really am pleased to give my recommendation of Marie’s undoubted abilities in this specialised area of Employment Law. I am certain that her efforts on my behalf achieved the final result that I desired.” Mr Frank Rew.
I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
In my spare time, I’m a keen equestrian. I’m also on the committee of Colne Valley Riding Club involved in running the club and organising events.
