I qualified in 1993, so have many years of experience and help clients deal with the full range of family and matrimonial services, divorcing parties, separation issues relating to property and children, I have undertaken several couple pre-nuptial agreement cases involving local business proprietors. I work with my clients to achieve a positive outcome and, where possible in a non-confrontational way in order to minimise acrimony and avoid incurring unnecessary legal fees. I also conduct advocacy regularly in the local courts.
I also sit as a Deputy District Judge in the County Court on a part-time basis and am a member of Resolution which is an organisation of family lawyers who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. I have good relationships with barristers, accountants and other professionals.
I help my clients to work their way through a process that can be emotionally difficult. It is never ‘another divorce case’ to me. Every case is personal and I offer thoughtfulness, care and professionalism. I inform them of their options and maximise outcomes for them and the family by minimising conflict where possible. Clients say they value my honest, professional and trustworthy approach. I support them and put their case forward to an opponent with carefully constructed correspondence so as to encourage settlement where possible and not increase acrimony.
One of my clients recently said:
“the service that I have received from Helen has been exceptional. Helen has demonstrated a rare combination of tact, sensitivity, professionalism and pragmatism and these have helped me to survive the ordeal and come through the other side with my sanity”
The 2014 Legal 500 (an impartial view on legal service providers) praises me for my patient and client friendly attitude and says Helen Stuart is ‘a wonderful solicitor – she is very understanding, and takes the time to listen’. I am pleased that the Gotelee Family Team continue to rank highly in the Legal 500. This shows that we at Gotelee’s are continually committed to providing a service that our Client’s can rely on and trust and are always looking at making improvements that will benefit our Client’s.
When not at Gotelee I enjoy following football, keeping fit with low-speed jogging and getting out into the local countryside. I live in the Suffolk Coastal area so also cover our Woodbridge office.
